Bankruptcy to Millionaire

Well gang,

I must apologize. I have not been updating as often as I should, and when I do it’s more “fluff” to keep stuff fresh on the page.

Quite honestly I haven’t been inspired to write here. Which is a lame-ass reason, I have been caught up in a number of projects that I took on all at once–maybe wrong fully so. Have been spending every spare moment trying to get started with my Local Niche Blog Tacoma Downtown . A new niche affiliate site that will be promoting a fantastic offer. I plan on scaling some Pay-Per-Click soon.

I am also attempting to grow my offline business. Coupled with a full time job, and quite honestly, with this site not making much money, it’s been unintentionally (and wrongfully) put on the back burner.

Also, I am slacking when it comes to my own personal development. I am not reading ANYTHING, even though I have a stack of books I’d like to read. (I did take on a personal development challenge recently, which I’ll explain tomorrow.)

So,  I promise more in depth, read-worthy ads. Until tomorrow,

The last 2 days I have been giving myself a power push. I haven’t been 100% healthy. In fact, this morning I woke up feel down right terrible.

I called into work. Pulled up my laptop, and got to work.

I’ve started work on buying some new domains. I just grabbed myself a really generic .info domain that I could add to my hostgator account so I could have a place to put all my crazy new affiliate ideas to test.

I started designing some brand new landing pages for this great offer I want to run. Something I intended to just dink around with for an hour. And I have literally spent the last 13 hours working on.

In the last two days, I have not hardly turned off my laptop. I feel closer to victory. I feel like the path I am on now will finally lead somewhere.

Yesterday I mentioned that one of the sites I am going to be launching (with my $0.01 hosting for the first month) will be my:

Local Niche Blog.

Well what the hell is it? I was inspired to start one after I read a little bit about what and how to do it over at BloggerUnleashed (WARNING: Not Safe For Work. Uses 4 letter words liberally. Do not visit if you are easily offended by language… I however am not…). Here is a post on the topic: Local Niche Blogging

So after reading that, I came up with some really stellar ideas. I live in Tacoma Washington, the second (or 3rd depending on the year) largest city in Washington State behind Seattle.

So I’ve decided to localize a bit more. I’m going to be launching www.TacomaDowntown.com a blog that will cover basics like: Weather, Traffic, Lottery, Etc. (Things that get searched for online).

But my partner and I have some great ideas for some viral marketing as well. So we’ll be covering the downtown nightlife scene, restaurants, local theatres, the 4 major museums, the local parades.

Basically everything that goes on in my Local Downtown Tacoma area will be covered on www.tacomadowntown.com.

For the first 6-8 months, I don’t plan on monetizing it at all. I just plan to build content. Root myself in the community. But slowly, I will turn to local business owners (almost every business is Downtown Tacoma is independantly owned. So much so there is a “downtown business merchants” meeting every month) for advertising dollars and joint promotions.

I love this project because I love my city. I love downtown Tacoma. So it will be an interesting ride. I’ll will give you more information when it is launched.

Recently I’ve been wanting to set up a few ideas for my affiliate campaigns and my Local Niche Blog (more on that later).

The problem was, I was having a hard time justifying $50-$70 for a domain and hosting every time I wanted to set up a new landing page/domain. This is you in your comfort zone. You like it in there. In fact you’d never leave if you weren’t forced to.

I mean, hell, it’s comfortable. Why on earth would you leave what’s comfortable?

But here’s the sad fact. If you never FORCE YOURSELF to leave your comfort zone. You are destined for mediocrity.

You know the feeling of that comfort zone. When you go and eat the same types of food everyday. You talk to the same people. You go to the same places. You read the same authors, the same blogs. You vacation at the same places. You wear your hair the same way. You wear your favorite jeans or your favorite tie as often as you can. You order the same drink. You watch the same TV shows. You work the same job. You say the same jokes.

Most people, interestingly, are creatures of habit–by default. This is how most are programmed. We find something that works for us. Then they stick with that. Why change?

Yesterday was a great day. As I’ve mentioned before I’m concentrating most of my efforts into my offline business for the next two weeks. This is to gain more time to put into my affiliate marketing efforts–as I’ll be making more money working only 8 hours a week, as I currently am working 40 hours a week.
