Break Out Of Your Comfort Zone. Dominate The Competition.
Written by Tevin on February 12, 2008 – 12:44 am -This is you in your comfort zone. You like it in there. In fact you’d never leave if you weren’t forced to.
I mean, hell, it’s comfortable. Why on earth would you leave what’s comfortable?
But here’s the sad fact. If you never FORCE YOURSELF to leave your comfort zone. You are destined for mediocrity.
You know the feeling of that comfort zone. When you go and eat the same types of food everyday. You talk to the same people. You go to the same places. You read the same authors, the same blogs. You vacation at the same places. You wear your hair the same way. You wear your favorite jeans or your favorite tie as often as you can. You order the same drink. You watch the same TV shows. You work the same job. You say the same jokes.
Most people, interestingly, are creatures of habit–by default. This is how most are programmed. We find something that works for us. Then they stick with that. Why change?
“I know I like these things.” “I know I’m good at this.” “I know this tastes good.”
It’s just so much easier to go with something we already know works. We’re comfortable
with that. And for most people, being comfortable is all they could ask for. That is what they want from their life.
But then there is the select few of us. The Entrepreneurs. We don’t ever want to settle, we want to grow. Become bigger. Better. Richer. More Famous. The true entrepreneurs never quit. They never settle.
But how does one grow for infinity?
To always continue to grow. To get better. To get richer. You need to continually break through what you think is comfortable. To venture into something that is completely foreign to you. When you are out of your comfort zone, you are forced into a new frame of mine. You cannot predict what is going to happen next. You are going to learn something new. You are going to do something unexpected. You are going to grow in knowledge and experience.
If you never let yourself settle into your comfy box of a comfort zone, you will never stop growing.
What I have done to push myself outside of my on CZ
I can think of many instances in my life where I did something that was WILDLY outside of what I felt comfortable doing, and looking back can recognize exactly the positive impact it’s had on my life.
From recently forcing my naturally shy self, to socialize and form life long friends. To taking a job as a telemarketer (Yea! The job sucked… but that’s a whole ‘nother story. But lets just say it’s a bit uncomfortable to call people during dinner!). I took a job working for my high school, just 1 year after I graduated as a coworker to the rest of the staff! Talk about intimidating.
And now most recently, I am FORCING myself, to walk litterally door to door, and ask restaurant managers if I can be their house magician. It’s incredibly intimidating, and uncomfortable for me. Sure I could just go find a job where I can sit behind a computer. Become an IT guy or something…
But I know for venturing out and expanding myself, I am going to come back a stronger, more knowledgeable person (and more wealthy).
What are you going to do to demolish your comfort zone?
Make the decision to at least (the more the better) once a week to do something outside of your comfort zone. Read something/someone new. Try some new food. Call someone you don’t usually talk to. Go to a different movie theatre. Style your hair differently. Go to a new bar. Go see the ballet (if you don’t normally).
Break through your normalcy. You’ll love the results in your life. And your bottom line.

Fantastic advice m8.
Couldnt agree with you more. Those that are brave enough to break out of their comfort zone separates them from the wannabe entrepenuers. Nice post. Inspiring

Excellent post. The comfort zone is the reason I hadn’t really done affiliate marketing… that’s all going to change this month.
Good luck sir!
