A post of passion. And a FIRM commitment.
Written by Tevin on November 20, 2007 – 10:00 am -I’ve been spending a lot of time trying to find my passion. If there is one rule that I know is that you must LOVE what you do to become ultra successful at it.
I want to become a millionaire. And I only have 43 more months to do it. I think I need to find my passion.
First of all I know I love talking about money. I just find the subject of it fascinating. How people make it. How people lose it. I love hearing of peoples great success stories. I love thinking “entrepreneur”. Take an idea… any idea. How can you make money with it? I’ve been thinking that way since I was 7.
I can burp (loudly) on command. Can I make money doing that?
But even though I liked to “think” this way. I was a thinker. A talker. Not a doer. I never stopped talking about it long enough to just DO IT!
So then I second guess myself. Do I have “it”. I sit on my duff a lot, and do a whole lot of nuthin’ FAR too often! Because if my passion is just thinking business. I’m flat SCREWED, because I’ll be flat BROKE.
But finally; it’s starting to *click*. I think I am about to harness “it”. To focus “it” into a whirlwind of action and success. I can feel “it” brushing the tips of my fingers just ahead of me, and if I can just grab ‘hold and pull it close. I feel an explosion of success is inevitable.
I’m realizing. I absolutely, positively love to write. I thoroughly enjoy putting my thoughts and my words in black and white. I am also realizing how to monetize those words. Maybe this blog. Maybe a product. Maybe copy. But through practice and ambition. I believe that I will be able to find how to use my words to mine the cash into my pocket.
I have at least 3 business ideas in my head RIGHT NOW. I feel inspired. I feel action oriented. I feel RICH.
I am going to write these things down on paper RIGHT NOW. And develop a plan of action to get each one done in succession. And I am going to COMPLETE the project, and pull the trigger (quite unlike what I have done in the past. Where I started and gave up before I ever even gave some ideas a shot…).
I am going to COMMIT to a very modest goal. I am going to make it public, and I am going to do everything in my power to achieve it.
I commit to earing just $250 in profit in the Dog Care niche by the end of January.
Yes. I have had this *GREAT* idea for about 2 months. I have put a ton of it together, I just haven’t taken the final step and went live. Then begin to tweak and change to make it profitable. I am going to take this idea–that I absolutely POSITIVELY know will be a success–and full commit to it. I am going to turn a profit from it, because I know exactly what and how it is to be done. I just have to take the step necessary for doing it.
Now lets get to it! Lets start taking some action!

I’m postive that I’m Positive.
Written by Tevin on November 13, 2007 – 11:35 am -It’s been brought to my attention that I sometimes tend to post the negative things going on. Specifically my view on a day of cold calling… This is not my intention!
So today is a VERY important day for me. And I’m staying completely positive. Today is my audition for Red Robin to be their in house magician two days a week. This is a job that can pay as much as a part time job working only 4 hours a month. It would be an incredible coup for me if I were able to land the gig (because it will open all sorts of doors).
The thing is there isn’t an ounce of me that believe that I WON’T land the gig. I KNOW I’m going to get it. I have been doing magic for quite some time (professionally since I was 16, and winning talent shows even before then). I know what I’m doing. And I know I’m good. I will amaze them. And I will get the job.
The thing is this is just the first step. All morning I have been running ideas through my head on how I am going to use this as an “in” and turn it into a business model that hasn’t really been done before (at least around my area). Because even though the pay is great:
A) You can only work so many hours a night.
B) There are only 7 days a week
I can’t make more than a few hundred dollars a week. Even if I were to max out the schedule it could only turn into a few thousand a month! This would be fantastic! But it can be better, and I think I know how to do it. Structure it in a way where I am not limited to the amount of days that I can work, in the amount of places I can make money from at any one time, and this could be one of my limitless streams of income.
You see I can only trade My Time for somebody else’s Money for so long. Eventually I run out of time. Then I run out of money I can make.
So I have to put in as much effort to NOT ONLY trading my time for money (because right now I don’t have
many other options). But also making sure that I look at every angle of profitability so if there is an opportunity to make m
ore money I jump on it!
How can you implement this into your life? Are you trading every single hour you can for money? Is there a way in which you can work once and have it pay forever? Do some thinking…
Anyhow, if you by chance own or manage a restaurant I have something I want to talk to you about. I think it will benefit
us both a ton!
I’ll update you on my progress this evening!

Persistance Pays Off!… Well hopefully
Written by Tevin on November 8, 2007 – 7:24 pm -I’ve been poundin’ the pavement. Kickin’ the dirt. Hittin’ the streets. And a number of other euphemisms for cold calling lately.
Basically I’ve been walking into businesses unannounced and trying to get their business! Yea… IT’S TOUGH!!! And I pretty much HATE doing it.
For 2.5 days this week (and ever other day I’ve gone out prior) I’ve been catching nothing but AIR. Nodda. Zilch. I was wiffing at every corner. But I kept at it. 5 Hours each day, getting told “No!” “Get out!” “No thank you” “We’re taken care of…” “That’s not something we’re interested in…” “No I’m sorry he’s not available.” And pretty much any other blow off you could possibly think off.
But at last! After practicing my rebuttals, rehersing, getting over my FEAR OF FAILURE. I’ve finally gotten passed the first wall.
Today, I walk into Red Robin for the second time in as many days. Ask to speak with the manager, and a few words and a card trick later… I’ve finally got an audition which I’m sure to NAIL to becoming the regular performing magician at that Red Robin restaurant.
It’s a small step. Yes. But it is a STEP! I thought I just wasn’t cut out for this. I was beginning to think “maybe I CAN’T sell”… ugh. I hate failure!!!! That’s NOT me anymore. And BAM when I least expect it. I get my chance.
This is a great opportunity at a supplemental income, and will open up doors to other Red Robin’s in the area when I land the job! This is tremendous step for me in helping me pay down my debt, and come closer to becoming a MILLIONAIRE in 48 months.
So as my thanks to Red Robin.

EAT THERE!
Have a great Friday everyone!!! And remember, don’t just GIVE UP. Keep at it until you find success, or success finds you. You’ll be happy you did. I certainly am!

Day Dreaming… The Key To Success?
Written by Tevin on November 6, 2007 – 5:54 pm -I’ve found that one thing I do very VERY well is Day Dreaming.
Hell! I probably do it more than anything else!
But in all seriousness. I think that too many people get caught up in “life”. They don’t allow themselves the time to daydream. To remember what they would want… what they would be like in their Utopian World. They don’t allow themselves to see where they are going. Where their future lays. Where it COULD lay. If only they take action.
Then what happens? Most likely you get depressed (unless your life just rocks as it is now, and you’re living your dreams… And I’m not talking to you Mr. Niceshoes.) and forget where it was that you WANTED TO BE! Don’t let that fire of desire burn out. You always have to have that as a driving force behind you. Otherwise you’re just going to settle for “what is”. Now some people like to call these type of people “realists”.
Give me a break.
If you can’t sit around an imagine what your perfect life would be. Then how will you know when you ever get there?
Now I’m not just saying you should sit around your house all day, and hope that you become rich and famous with a super model wife (… or husband for you women out there…) and then expect to open your eyes and it exists. I like to call those people delusional!
BUT! Once you realize: Wow, I want accomplish “this” and “this”. And I want to give to charity. And I would love to be an author. And have a home with a pool. And share it with the girl of my dreams. And be well know, and people aspire to be like me. And I want to help others be successful….
Then you know what to shoot for.
You have to let yourself go sometimes. Nothing can inspire you more than the fact that you know if you try hard enough and attempt enough, you can achieve your dreams.
I truly, TRULY believe this. And is the driving force behind me everyday.
So do yourself a favor. Give yourself a few moments to daydream everyday. Stop being a “realist” and start dreaming! You might be surprised with your results!

You Have To Be Different
Written by Tevin on October 30, 2007 – 10:00 am -I’ve heard this statistic before. And it seems to come up every now and then: 90% of small businesses fail in their first year…
It’s some absurdly huge percentage like that. The sad reality is a huge majority of small businesses fail in their first year of being in business. (And probably even a larger number of online businesses)
But in all reality they didn’t fail in their first year. They fail on day one. The day most businesses open their doors they’re doomed to fail. Not because “statistically” most are doomed to close. That’s like the guy that brings a bomb on a plane, not to blow up the plane, but rather he noticed statistics showed that it was nearly impossible for two people to bring a bomb on a plane. Much greater than just a single person bringing a bomb on a plane. Therefor if he were to bring one, it’s statistically impossible for another to have brought one on a plane too…
(Hell… with all this “bomb on a plane” talk. I’m probably on the Homeland Security watchlist)
Anyhow their doomed not because of: bad management. Bad bookkeeping. Poor financial backing. Etcetera and so on… Yes this could be a factor. But more likely they fail because they don’t have:
DIFFERENTIATION
You MUST set yourself apart from your competition. Because in todays market, you’re almost certainly going to have some sort of competition.
You MUST give your buyers a reason to buy from you, work with you, or use your product, other than that other guy down the street.
If you don’t, what reason do they have to use you? Because you’re “better”. Because you’re “nice”. No.
And not only do you have to be DIFFERENT, you have to be different enough to be compelling enough to pull your clients away from your competitors.
The first thing most small businesses do to set themselves apart is make themselves “cheaper” than the competition. This can work. But most likely it’s a death wish for your businesses instead think about setting yourself apart by not being cheaper. Brainstorm by starting with some of these ideas:
- Become exclusive
- Offer products or services that are “outside the box” from your normal products (think: the first guy to offer WiFi at his Coffee shop.)
- Expand your product or service line
- Adding a personal touch
- Giving stuff for free
- Offer discounts for products that relate to yours, that you don’t offer (joint ventures, cross promotions)
- Market to the affluent
- Look at what your competitors are doing. Don’t do that. (Note: Use common sense.)
You can get your haircut anywhere. But a salon that offers you a choice of your favorite cocktail, and an iPod with a diverse selection of music gets my vote.
A coffee shop, can sell me a cup of coffee once. But one with internet access will probably get my refill business on the weekends.
I can get my picture taken anywhere. But a custom portrait studio that promises to take more time, and more photographs, indoor and outdoor, digitally enhanced, with photographers that are more experienced than any others in the area… I would pay for that privilege.
If a business can truly accomplish being DIFFERENT enough. It CAN’T FAIL. It can only become a huge success.
If every new business can answer and follow through with their answers to: “What makes me different? What makes me better?”
We’ll see a new statistic soon enough.
